Neighborhood kitchens, murals and a giant lemon beside the trolley corridor. Lemon Grove pairs a compact historic center with small businesses along Broadway and Lemon Grove Avenue; its Parsonage Museum gives a useful introduction to the community’s past.
People made the city.
Broadway and Lemon Grove Avenue carry much of the local shopping and dining. Main Street connects to the trolley area and landmark lemon. Treganza Heritage Park holds historic buildings near Olive and Church, while the public library is on School Lane. These stops are spread across several blocks; compare addresses rather than assuming a single shopping strip. Read the local history.

Atherton Chapel
The redwood building now housing the Parsonage Museum was constructed in 1897 as Atherton Chapel.

A building moves
The former chapel moved to Church and Olive in 1912. Its later uses included a community meeting hall and a residence.

Museum restoration
The Historical Society restored the city-owned building between 1997 and 1999. The project received the Governor’s Historic Preservation Award in 2001.
